IFRM (Intumescent Fireproofing)
At The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Rockefeller Wing in New York City, Wohl Diversified Services was trusted to deliver highly specialized fireproofing solutions for both the exterior and interior portions of this prestigious renovation project.
Exterior Work:
Our team manually primed the steel columns with a rust-inhibitive coating before applying Albi Clad 800, an exterior-grade intumescent fireproofing system, by hand trowel. This precise application achieved the UL-designed thickness required to meet the specified fire-resistive rating. Due to the sensitive location, extra care was taken to protect guests and the surrounding environment, including the preservation of native plant species.
Interior Work:
Inside the museum, we spray-primed the steel with a rust-inhibitive coating prior to applying Albi Clad TF+, followed by a custom-colored topcoat. The finish was hand-troweled to ensure the smoothest possible surface, carefully crafted to match the architect’s aesthetic vision while meeting rigorous performance and fire safety requirements.
This project highlights Wohl’s ability to execute complex, high-profile work with precision, safety, and artistry—blending technical expertise with respect for both the historic setting and the museum’s unique environmental sensitivities.
